Dear readers and writers,

 

TAR will not be releasing an issue during October. As we’ve been hinting, TAR is moving to a quarterly publication schedule. The planned release of our next issue is early-mid December. We are accepting submissions at this time, so if you would like to be featured in our (re)inaugural issue, we accept submissions through our e-mail at theaprilreader@gmail.com

Why the change? Simple: to improve the journal. Over the 2+ years that TAR has been active, it has featured a large number of quality works provided by talented authors asking nothing in return. We have returned this kindness by offering critical feedback and a diverse readership from all over the world. But that simply isn’t enough.

For our readers, we want thicker issues with stimulating works of prose, poetry, and non-fiction. Why should releases have a limit? And without the constraint of a page count, there is no need to keep authors waiting with roster deliberations among editors. Writers will receive feedback faster, with more in-depth criticism to sharpen their drafts and engage their readers.

Furthermore, being published in TAR should mean something to an author. We are striving to increase the reach of our publication, giving published writers more exposure. Published works will also be given the respect of appearing in a journal with polished, professional design and presentation. Being a volunteer-driven organization will not stop TAR from being an accolade to published authors.

All of this is possible through a shift to quarterly publication, and much more will follow as TAR continues to grow over the coming months. And while we are sad to miss spending fall with you, we hope you’re as excited as we are about the next frontier of The April Reader. Keep an eye out for further updates and news!
